Co-organised by E3G and the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI), this closed-door, in-person roundtable will bring together leading experts to explore China’s engagement in Brazil’s climate policy and energy transition.
This workshop marks the culmination of a two-year initiative exploring China’s engagement with major emerging economies — Indonesia, South Africa, and Brazil. Hosted at CEBRI’s new headquarters, the dialogue will be held in October against the backdrop of Brazil’s role as host of COP30 and its recent leadership within BRICS, in a context of evolving global geopolitical dynamics. It will map the current status and contributions of trade, investment and climate finance flows in key sectors and the levers to accelerate mitigation efforts. Participants will include thought leaders from think tanks, academia, civil society, and the private sector. Held under the Chatham House Rule to promote open and honest exchange, each session will begin with framing remarks from first respondents, followed by a moderated, active discussion among all attendees.
