Biography Pietro Erber

He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from the National School of Engineering, now known as the Polytechnic School of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), in 1961. He completed his master's degree at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, in 1966. He worked in the Energy Division of the National Bank for Economic Development, which is now called BNDES, as well as in the energy sector of the Institute for Applied Economic and Social Research (IPEA). From 1968 to 1996, he was employed at Eletrobras, where he held several positions including engineer in the Planning Department, head of the Market Studies Department, assistant to the Planning and Engineering Directorate, interim director of Planning and Engineering, and assistant to the president for international affairs. Additionally, he served as a consultant to the World Bank (IBRD), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Brazilian Committee of the World Energy Council.

From 2000 to 2003, he was a member of the Board of Eletrobras. He also directed the National Institute of Energy Efficiency (INEE) and served as president of the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association. Currently, he is a member of INEE and the Energy Committee of the National Academy of Engineering, focusing on issues related to energy conservation and policy.
